What is Caleb’s Canine Rescue, Inc?

CCRescue is an Ohio nonprofit corporation, located in Parma, Ohio. Our purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abandoned, unwanted, and homeless dogs. The majority of our rescued dogs have come from various county dog pounds, shelters and humane societies; each, has been within days of being killed because no one claimed or wanted them.

What kind of dogs do you rescue?

Although there are many dogs in dire need of help, our efforts are primarily directed to beagles and/or border collies.  Even in restricting our efforts to specific breeds and even though there are many dog rescues operating, it is still impossible to save all of the homeless, unwanted and abandoned dogs.

Are these dogs sick?

Many of the dogs have come to us with specific medical problems requiring veterinary care, others have been surprisingly healthy.  In all events, however, we take every dog to the veterinarian shortly after arrival in our rescue.    In addition to treating any specific ailments, we have each vaccinated (DHLPP and Rabies), wormed, tested for heartworm and started on preventative.  The dogs are also either spayed/neutered before placement or placed with a spay/neuter clause in the adoption contract.

Isn’t this expensive?

As you can well imagine, the costs of running CCRescue are high and, although we do require an adoption fee with each placement to help defray expenses, the adoption fee alone never covers the expense that has been incurred for the dog. On average, our per dog expenses exceed the adoption fee by a third and have, at times, been as high as half again as much.

How can I help?

A one-time monetary contribution to Caleb’s Canine Rescue, Inc., will certainly go a long way towards our efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome our homeless dogs.

However, there are also other ways you can help:

Sponsor a Dog

Adopt a dog in spirit. Sponsor a dog at CCRescue! When you sponsor a rescue dog, you help feed and care for it while in rescue. You also further our education and rescue efforts.Your $25 basic sponsor package includes: A color photograph and bio of the dog of your choice; A certificate of enrollment in the sponsor program; Recognition on our sponsor donor pages

Foster a Dog

Caleb's Canine Rescue, Inc. desperately needs Foster Homes for our dogs. Every day we have to turn down wonderful, deserving dogs because there is no room at the inn. These dogs are euthanized at shelters everyday. PLEASE HELP US.

A secure yard/kennel is required, dogs should sleep in the house at night in a crate. You should have time to train, socialize and exercise the dog. The dogs need to be housetrained and obedience trained.

We furnish a dog crate for your use while caring for a dog and pay for the dogs expenses to include food and veterinary care as long as expenses are authorized by Caleb's Canine Rescue, Inc. If you would like to help, call or email us for more information.

Adopt a Dog

Are you considering a dog as a pet for your family? Please don’t buy while shelter animals die! Consider adopting a rescue dog, if not from CCRescue, from another rescue. Please contact us and we can help you find a rescue organization that works with any breed dog you are interested in.

Product Contributions

We can always use "dog stuff." These items may be in your home collecting dust, or you may purchase them new to donate if you so desire:

Dog Toys; Leashes; Collars; Old Blankets; Dog Crates; Dog Shampoo; Dog Food (Purina One).

What else should I do?

License Your Dog

It’s the Law and it will help you recover your pet if lost. Did you know the law says the dog warden can kill your dog after 3 days if found & unclaimed by you? If licensed he will notify you by certified mail that your dog has been found and you have 14 days to then claim your dog!

Spay and Neuter Your Pets

1) Spaying or neutering increases your pet's chances for a longer, healthier life.

2) An altered dog or cat is a better pet for your family.

3) No family wants to cope with an unwanted pregnancy.

4) Spaying results in a cleaner female dog and home.

5) You are helping to alleviate the dog and cat overpopulation problem.

Each year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats are euthanized (killed) at shelters across the country.
